Getting into the tiny house movement

Whether they’ve been inspired by Marie Kondo’s tidying (and decluttering) tips, or just want to drastically downsize, many young buyers are drawn to the tiny house movement, which challenges owners to live in 100-400 square feet for economic and environmental purposes.

Many of us have thought that a tiny house sounds like a great idea on a short-term basis. A new startup, Getaway, plans to rent out custom-designed tiny houses for those who need a break from their bustling norm. Getaway’s first home, Ovida, is available for rent now outside Boston.

The best listing presentation tips

Earlier this week, we shared our favorite WOW package strategies for would-be sellers. But if you’re further down the seller pipeline, we’ve found some great tips for listing presentations.

RE/MAX hall of famers Dave and Vanessa Fauquier share their tips on how to get in the right mindset when walking into a listing presentation with a potential seller. If you feel like you need to brush up on the basics, here is a great overview of listing presentation basics. The importance of number four, which reminds you not to be too desperate, cannot be overstated.

Landing luxury clients, or just gawking at their homes

Think you go through hoops to land that charming split-level down the street? Then you’ll be amazed at what luxury home sellers are doing to land their high-profile clients. (Once you read about agents who pay $40,000 for a feature film starring their listing, you’ll never again balk at the cost of your sign riders.)

Of course, when properties are worth tens of millions of dollars, $40,000 is a drop in the bucket of your eventual commission. Check out The Wall Street Journal’s roundup of unique luxury homes, including a party pad with its own barbecue tower, and a Manhattan condo with a 43rd story outdoor private pool.

Real estate websites

We’ve seen a lot of folks asking for website advice, so we dug up Placester’s top 11 examples of the best real estate branding to offer some inspiration.

If it’s time to reexamine your agent or team website entirely, read this great summary on Inman about why your current site isn’t working.
